Centre for Contemporary Arts
March 30th – April 1st, 2016
Sound Thought, the University of Glasgow’s annual postgraduate conference and concert festival, will exhibit the work of researchers and contemporary practitioners exploring the intersections of music, sound, and other artistic genres.
This year’s festival, “Dialogues”, will take place between 30 March and 1 April 2016, primarily at Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts, and at select other performance venues throughout the city. This year’s festival is being programmed in collaboration with GLEAM (Glasgow Audiovisual and Electronic Media), LUX Scotland, the Pipe Factory, and the Red Note Ensemble.
Call for Abstracts
Submission of papers, compositions, performances, fixed-media works, and installations of any artistic discipline are welcome, so long as they draw in some way on the aesthetics of music and sound. Please send abstracts and proposals of c.250 words along with a short bio to [email protected]. Deadline: 20 December, 2015.
Sound Thought offers postgraduate researchers the opportunity to present their work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, alongside performances and installations. We welcome submissions from postgraduate researchers, academics, professionals, and practitioners of music, sound art, and electronic and audiovisual media, as well as from artists in other fields. The meeting-points of artistic genres are often unruly, defying both chronology and medium; therefore, Sound Thought contributions will be arranged according to artistic topic and aesthetic stance. The resulting interplay between events — in addition to the events themselves — will thus offer a further source of interdisciplinary insight.
