Editorial Board & Book Reviews Editor for Popular Music History

Posted: February 24th, 2025 | Filed under: News | Comments Off on Editorial Board & Book Reviews Editor for Popular Music History

We are currently inviting scholars to join the new editorial board of Popular Music History, and we would be delighted if you would consider applying or sharing this opportunity with colleagues.

We are looking for scholars with expertise in popular music or adjacent fields, demonstrated through quality publications, who are interested in actively contributing to the journal’s development. Scholars from any part of the world are welcome, and given the journal’s focus, an interest in historical perspectives on popular music is particularly desirable. We strongly encourage applications from scholars based in the Global South and from underrepresented groups in academia.
Board members are expected to:

  • Review submissions for Popular Music History (on average 2 to 4 papers per year, depending on expertise and manuscript fit).
  • Contribute to shaping the journal’s direction, including suggesting future special issue topics and areas for development.
  • Promote the journal within the broader scholarly community (e.g., through conferences, networks, and institutional affiliations).

Call for a Book Reviews Editor

In addition to editorial board members, we are also seeking a Book Reviews Editor, who will:

  • Oversee the selection and assignment of books for review.
  • Identify and coordinate potential reviewers.
  • Maintain the quality and relevance of the journal’s book review section.

Application Process

If you are interested, please send an email to [email protected] and [email protected] by March 10, 2025, including:

-A brief statement (max. 500 words) explaining your motivation for joining the editorial board and how you envision contributing to the journal.
-Your ORCiD ID or a link to a website where we can learn about your publications.

We look forward to hearing from you and would be delighted to have you as part of the Popular Music History team!

Beate Peter and Patryk Galuszka
